The Irony in high gas prices.

Writing my oil blog a little while ago, I came to a hilarious conclusion. No one is laughing now, but I am sure they will be in a few years.
While Exxon is making record profits selling gas, and the American people are suffering, does anyone see the irony in these high gas prices?
The quote that I got to thinking about was from the Sheik. "the Stone Age came to an end not for a lack of stones, and the oil age will end, but not for a lack of oil" ~ Sheik Yamani, Saudi Arabia's former oil minister and founding architect of OPEC.
What he is basically saying, is that we will stop using Oil when it is more convenient, or makes more sense, to move on and use something else. These high gas prices are going to push people to make alternate decisions and ironically will push companies like Exxon right out of a job. Then who will be laughing?
